The numbers behind the chart
Counts are outbreaks, cases or reports as each source counts them. A record that two sources both hold is counted once, taking the national source first, then ADIS, WAHIS and EMPRES-i. A WAHIS row counts the outbreaks in the whole event so far, so its count can be larger than the number reported in the period. Season totals published by GOV.UK and DAFM appear only in the bar views, for a period that covers the season. A column that holds only zeros or blanks is left out of the table.
